Wild Hikes Challenge
 The
Portage Park District
is pleased to announce its first annual hiking series, the “Wild
Hikes
Challenge,” designed to showcase the beauty and diversity of the
natural areas
in Portage County. The kick off is Saturday, May 3, 10:00 am at Dix
Park
in Ravenna Township. To participate, fill out a registration form, then
walk, hike, skip,
jog or run on 8 of the designated trails between May 3 and October 25.
You may
choose to hike on your own, or on guided, scheduled hikes led by Park
staff and
volunteers.
Please download the Wildhikes form and fill it out. Please return the completed form to the Park District
Office at 128 North Prospect Street, Ravenna, OH 44266. If you wish to
receive the badge only, please enclose a self
addressed, stamped envelope. Hiking staffs and badges will be available
for
pickup after September 31, Monday Through Friday at the Park Office
from
8am-12pm. Saturday pickup available by appointment. Badges and Hiking
staffs
earned by Portage County residents are free of charge. Non-residents,
please enclose check or
money order for $5.00.

“Sounds of Night” Hike
May 31 Hike at 10:00 a.m. Come early for a Fish
Inventory Demo at the Breakneck Creek
Preserve, 5795 Lakewood @ 9:00 am.
June 7 Franklin Connector Hike at 10:00 a.m. Meet at
Lake Rockwell lot.
June 21 Seneca Ponds Preserve Hike at 10:00 am.
Come early to celebrate the Park Opening
@ 9:00 am.
July 12 Headwaters Trail Hike at 10:00 a.m.
Meet at Buchert Memorial Park in Mantua.
July 26 Wild Hikes: The Portage Hike
and Bike Trail
